PROGRAM & EXPERIENCE
1. What kind of community engagement will students participate in? Students participate in structured activities alongside local educators, community organizations, and youth-serving partners. Depending on the program, activities may include: Education and youth engagement Health awareness and wellness education Community activities and outreach Cultural exchange Educational games and activities Personal growth and leadership development Activities are designed around the program's learning goals and the needs and roles identified by local partners.
2. What does a typical day look like? Each day combines structured program activities, community engagement, cultural experiences, and time for rest and reflection. The specific schedule varies by program and length of stay. Students receive an orientation and program schedule so they understand what to expect while in Kenya.
3. Is this program appropriate for first-time international travelers? Yes. Students do not need previous international travel experience. Before departure, students receive guidance on travel preparation, packing, cultural expectations, safety, and what to expect in Kenya. Once they arrive, local staff help students become familiar with their surroundings, accommodations, schedule, and program expectations.
SAFETY & SUPPORT
4. How do you ensure student safety? Safety is built into the program through preparation, vetted accommodations and transportation, local support, emergency procedures, and ongoing communication. Students receive safety guidance before departure and have access to local program staff throughout their experience. Families receive important program and emergency contact information before their student's departure.
5. Where will students stay? Students stay in selected accommodations that are appropriate for the program and group. Housing is chosen with student safety, comfort, reliability, proximity to program activities, and cultural experience in mind. Accommodations include: Shared group housing Meals Safe drinking water Local/on-site support Specific accommodations may vary depending on the program.
6. How does communication with families work during the program? Families receive important program and emergency contact information before departure. Students also have access to local program staff for questions, guidance, and assistance during their experience. For urgent situations, families can use the emergency contact procedures provided before the student's departure.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & RESPONSIBLE PRACTICE
7. How do I know the community engagement is responsible? Our programs emphasize respect, cultural humility, local leadership, and meaningful contribution. Students participate alongside local educators, organizations, and community partners rather than arriving as outside experts. We do not promote short-term activities that place students in roles requiring professional qualifications they do not have. Our goal is for students to learn from the communities they join while contributing appropriately within the role established with local partners.
COST & LOGISTICS
8. What is included in the program fee? The program fee includes the program components listed for your selected experience, including: Accommodation Meals Airport pickup and drop-off Scheduled in-country transportation Program activities Orientation Cultural activities/excursions included in the program Local program support International airfare is not included. Students should review the specific program page for details about what is included in their selected experience.
9. Who supervises students during the program? Students are supported by local program staff and coordinators throughout their experience. Staff provide guidance with program activities, logistics, questions, and student support. For activities involving specialized providers, such as a safari, students are accompanied by appropriate local professionals, such as licensed Kenyan safari guides and professional drivers.
10. Who is this experience for? Inspire Global Impact programs are designed for students and recent graduates who are interested in: Global health and wellness Education and youth engagement Community development Cultural exchange Personal and professional development Gaining international experience Students should be prepared to learn, participate, adapt to a new environment, and approach communities with respect and an open mind.
ACADEMICS & CAREER
11. Can students receive academic or service-learning credit? Students may be able to receive academic or service-learning credit depending on their institution's requirements and approval process. Inspire Global Impact does not award college credit. However, we can provide documentation that may support a student's request, such as: Verified participation hours Activity descriptions Learning outcomes Supervisor verification Reflection materials Students should speak with their academic advisor or appropriate university department before the program to determine whether and how the experience can be applied toward their academic requirements.
12. Can advisors or faculty work with Inspire Global Impact? Yes. We welcome conversations with faculty, advisors, study-abroad offices, service-learning programs, and other university partners interested in learning more about our programs. We can discuss program structure, student preparation, community engagement, documentation, and potential academic alignment.

14. How do I know if Inspire Global Impact is right for me? This experience may be a good fit if you are curious about the world, willing to learn from others, comfortable adapting to a new environment, and interested in meaningful community engagement and cultural exchange. You do not need to be an expert or have previous international experience.
