Preparing for your journey to Kenya is straightforward, and our team will guide you every step of the way. This page provides important information about travel requirements, arrival procedures, housing, communication, and what to expect before departure.
Our goal is to help students and families feel confident, informed, and excited as they prepare for their experience with Inspire Global Impact.
1. Travel Documents & Entry Requirements
Before traveling to Kenya, participants must have:

A passport valid for at least six months beyond their return date

A Kenya eVisa (application instructions provided after enrollment)

International travel medical insurance covering the duration of the program

Any required travel documents requested by Kenyan authorities
Participants are responsible for obtaining and maintaining all required travel documents before departure.
4. Transportation During the Program
Participant transportation is coordinated by Inspire Global Impact and our local team.
Included transportation:

Airport pickup and drop-off

Transportation to scheduled program activities

Transportation for included cultural excursions
-
Transportation for optional safari experiences
Our staff provides guidance on safe travel practices throughout the program.
2. Flights & Arrival
Participants are responsible for booking their own round-trip airfare to Nairobi, Kenya.
Arrival Airport:
Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO)
Upon arrival:

A member of our local team will meet you at the airport

Airport pickup is included in the program fee

Participants are transported directly to their accommodation

Arrival instructions and emergency contact information are provided before departure
We recommend arriving one day before your scheduled program start date whenever possible.
5. Communication & Technology
Participants can stay connected with family and friends throughout the program.
We recommend:

Bringing an unlocked phone for use with a local SIM card or eSIM

Downloading WhatsApp prior to departure

Ensuring important emergency contacts are saved before travel
Wi-Fi is available at participant accommodations, though speeds and reliability may vary.
Families will receive contact information and emergency procedures prior to departure.
3. Accommodation & Daily Living
Participants stay in safe, vetted accommodations selected by Inspire Global Impact and our local partners.
Housing includes:

Individual beds and bedding

Access to bathrooms and common living areas

Safe drinking water

On-site support from local staff
Living conditions in Kenya may differ from what participants are accustomed to at home. We encourage students to approach the experience with flexibility, curiosity, and respect for local customs and lifestyles.
Meals are provided throughout the program and include a variety of Kenyan and international foods.
Laundry services are available locally for a small additional cost.
6. Packing, Budgeting & Health Preparation
Accepted participants receive a detailed pre-departure guide and packing list.
We recommend bringing:
